The State of Mississippi received $1,250,000,000 (plus interest earned) under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act to provide economic support and aid and recovery for costs incurred in connection with the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), including business interruption caused by forced closures or restricted operations resulting from voluntary closures instituted to promote social distancing measures, decreased customer demand, cleaning or disinfection, and provision of personal protective equipment.

Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery
The Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) program, a part of the American Rescue Plan, delivers $350 billion to state, local, and Tribal governments across the country to support their response to and recovery from the COVID-19 public health emergency.
The Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Fund provides $19.53 billion to support tens of thousands of non-entitlement units of local government, which are local governments typically serving a population under 50,000. The State of Mississippi was awarded $268,046,958 under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) for distribution to non-entitlement units of local government (NEUs) which are local governments typically serving a population under 50,000. The ARPA directs the State to distribute these funds to the NEUs within the state.

In addition, the State of Mississippi was awarded $1,806,373,345.90 under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) to support the State’s response to and recovery from the COVID-19 public health emergency. Based on legislation passed by the State of Mississippi, the funds have been appropriated to state agencies to aid in supporting recovery efforts and to administer programs necessary to recover from COVID-19 public health emergency.

The State of Mississippi received American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) State Fiscal Recovery Funds (SFRF) from U.S. Department of the Treasury to help turn the tide on the pandemic, address its economic fallout, and lay the foundation for a strong and equitable recovery. Some SFRFs were transferred to the Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Lost Revenue Fund 3822113000 and to other ARPA 3822XXXXXX Special Funds as authorized.
